Belgium-Sweden match interrupted by Brussels shooting

Keep the score 1-1 in the first half

The Euro 2024 (2024 European Championship) match between Belgium and Sweden, which was suspended due to the Brussels shooting in which two people were killed, will not be held again.

UEFA said on the 20th that the results of the match between Belgium and Sweden, which had been suspended due to the death of two Swedish fans, will remain the same.

The incident took place near St. Teret Square in downtown Brussels, Belgium on the 17th.

At the time, an unidentified man opened fire, killing two Swedes and seriously injuring another.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Euro qualifying match between Belgium and Sweden was suspended in the first half, which ended with a 1-1 score as UEFA decided not to play a replay.

The reason why the two teams' matches will not be held again is that regardless of the results, the Euro 2024 finals have been confirmed.

In Group F, Belgium and Austria secured a berth to the finals, which gives them up to second place in the group. Sweden had been confirmed to be eliminated from the group stage as third place in the group.

The Swedish Football Association also asked UEFA to maintain the 1-1 result without a rematch.

Meanwhile, the Belgian and Swedish professional soccer leagues will hold a silent tribute to the two fans who died before the weekend game. 스포츠토토
